New Criticism is the school that generally looks at works of poetry or prose as self-contained entities; that is, they don&#039;t really look at history, context, authorship etc. If the commentary on the title looks at its meaning by itself, or looks at its relevance to the story without considering those other things I just mentioned, that is possible.
